Asphalt seal coating

Asphalt seal coating is a process that protects your asphalt driveway from deterioration. The process involves laying down a thin layer of liquid asphalt that hardens, forming a protective shield over the top of your driveway. Asphalt seal coating can last six months to two years and helps prevent cracking, potholes and other problems with your driveway surface.

Asphalt seal coating fills in small cracks in the existing surface so they don’t expand or grow larger over time. This helps keep water out of these areas so there’s less chance for them to become potholes (which can be expensive to repair!). If you want longer-lasting protection from these issues–and don’t mind paying more money every few years–you should consider having us do this type instead!

Here are the key points of the asphalt seal coating process

Remove any dirt or debris from the edges of the driveway with a rake. The edging should be 1 inch above the surface of the driveway. If you have weeds growing in your driveway, remove them as well before sealing. Leave no rocks or other debris on top of the asphalt.

Sealant Drying Time

Allow at least 72 hours for your new seal coat to completely dry before driving on it or mowing over it. This will allow time for excess material to cure and harden properly, while preventing any damage to your lawnmower blades that may occur if they come into contact with wet sealant material during this drying period.

The surface should be clean and dry before applying sealcoat. The old asphalt should be removed to a depth of about 1/8 inch (3 mm) using a broom or brush. A power spot-grinder can be used on small areas, but it is not recommended for large areas due to the potential for creating dust that may contain asbestos fibers.
